Additionally Samsung advices to backup all your data on the SSD before updating the firmware or executing the performance restoration software. There won’t be a desktop tool like the one on Windows. On the download page you can read that there will be a Linux/Mac OSX command line tool so most probably this will again be a image to boot from.
